Camp Read-A-Lot

Camp Read-A-Lot

Camp Read-A-Lot will be held in the Lakewood School Library February 6-10. Kindergarten through grade 5 classes will gather around the “campfire” to listen to campfire stories and enjoy the campfire.  Students can bring sleeping bags, stuffed animals and pillows to their library class to make their campfire experience cozy and comfortable.

The art club has finished decorating the Camp Read-A-Lot Cabin. Art club members painted a variety of camping scenes on the cabin. Greenery, starry lights, a Camp Read-A-Lot sign and camping equipment were added to complete the cabin. Thank you for helping to make our library an attractive place.

Two Cheeseburgers with Everything!

Sixth grade art students studied Swedish artist Claes Oldenburg, known for his large-scale sculptures of everyday objects, including two 1962 burger sculptures entitled "Two Cheeseburgers with Everything" and "Floor Burger".  Next, the students created their own (normal sized) burger sculptures out of everything from brown paper bags for buns to white styrofoam for raw onions.  Five of the students' projects can currently be seen at Mandino's Grill here in Twin Lakes.
