LAKEWOOD SCHOOL
Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow
November 2024
Dear Parents and Caregivers:
We have had a wonderful fall at Lakewood School/Twin Lakes #4 School District! As a District we continue to be thankful for the students and staff at Lakewood School, along with the support of the community.
Our learning community is committed to continuous improvement for all learners. You may have seen that the Wisconsin Department of Instruction released the School Report Cards based on last spring's FORWARD assessment. These report cards provide one of the tools we use to reflect on our strengths and identify areas for growth. We recognize the need to enhance our performance and are confident in our staff’s ability to support students in achieving better results. The state assessment is just one measure and doesn’t fully capture the daily work in our classrooms, we acknowledge our accountability for the outcomes.
The 2023-2024 Report Card for Lakewood School had an accountability score of 56.4 which provides a summary of Meets Few Expectations. The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is required by state statute (Wis. Stat. 115.385) to generate a school report card and district report card for every publicly funded school and district in the state. The report cards are intended to help schools and districts use performance data to celebrate successes and improve their efforts to prepare students for their futures. These public report cards can be found online at: http://dpi.wi.gov/accountability/report-cards.
The current school report card is primarily based on last year’s performance during the 2023-24 school year, though multiple years of data are used throughout the report card. DPI encourages caution when interpreting scores and ratings. At the foundation of the report cards are four priority areas. Schools and districts receive a score for each priority area: Achievement, Growth, Target Group Outcomes, and On-Track to Graduation.
As a school system I am confident that our teachers are growing our students, our students are learning, and there is confidence that there will be improvement for 2024-2025. Our priorities are to ensure the wellness/safety of our students and to provide them opportunities to learn and grow. As a school we will work relentlessly to demonstrate learning throughout the year that will show growth on our report card next year.
We understand that there may be questions and I encourage you to reach out to Mr. Berndt, Lakewood’s new principal, for 2024-2025 or myself (Robert Antholine) your District Administrator as of July 1, 2024.
Additionally, I am asking for further input on our review of the current Strategic Plan. I sent a message out to our community in October of 2024 and ask that if you have not completed it please do so. Here is the link for input on the Strategic Plan. Your input and feedback is important to the growth and further success of our District.
Your partnership is appreciated.
With gratitude,
Robert Antholine Ryan Berndt
District Administrator Principal
